Refund Policy

1. Overview

At Chessplain, we strive to provide excellent service. This Refund Policy explains our policies regarding subscription cancellations and refunds.

2. Free Trial

New users receive a 7-day free trial of our Premium tier. During the trial:

  • You can cancel at any time without being charged
  • No refund is necessary as you haven't been billed yet
  • Your account reverts to the free tier after cancellation
  • You retain access to Premium features until the trial ends

3. Subscription Cancellation

3.1 How to Cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time through:

  • Your profile page → "Manage Subscription"
  • The Stripe billing portal
  • Contacting our support team at support@getchessplain.com

3.2 What Happens After Cancellation

  • Your subscription will not renew at the end of the current billing period
  • You retain Premium access until the period ends
  • You will not be charged again unless you resubscribe
  • Your account reverts to the free tier automatically

3.3 No Partial Refunds

We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access until the end of that month but won't receive a prorated refund.

4. Refund Eligibility

While we generally do not offer refunds, we may provide full or partial refunds in the following cases:

4.1 Technical Issues

If you experience significant technical problems that prevent you from using the Service:

  • You must report the issue within 7 days of the charge
  • You must provide details about the problem
  • We must be unable to resolve the issue within a reasonable timeframe
  • Refunds may be prorated based on service availability

4.2 Billing Errors

If you were incorrectly charged due to:

  • Duplicate charges
  • Charges after cancellation
  • Incorrect subscription tier billing
  • System errors

We will issue a full refund for the erroneous charge.

4.3 Fraudulent Activity

If your payment method was used without authorization:

  • Report the unauthorized charge immediately
  • We will investigate and issue a refund if confirmed
  • The associated account will be suspended

5. Refund Requests

5.1 How to Request a Refund

To request a refund:

  1. Email support@getchessplain.com with subject "Refund Request"
  2. Include your account email and transaction details
  3. Explain the reason for your refund request
  4. Provide any relevant screenshots or documentation

5.2 Processing Time

  • We will respond to refund requests within 2-3 business days
  • Approved refunds are processed within 5-10 business days
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method
  • Bank processing times may vary

5.3 Time Limit

Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the charge. Requests after this period will not be considered except in cases of billing errors or fraud.

6. Non-Refundable Items

The following are not eligible for refunds:

  • Partial billing periods after voluntary cancellation
  • Service dissatisfaction without technical issues
  • Failure to use the Service after payment
  • Change of mind after the 7-day window
  • Violations of our Terms of Service

7. Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or credit card company:

  • Please contact us first to resolve the issue
  • Chargebacks may result in account suspension
  • We may dispute invalid chargebacks
  • Valid chargebacks will be honored without penalty

8. Price Changes

If we increase subscription prices:

  • You will receive 30 days notice
  • The new price applies to your next billing period
  • You can cancel before the increase takes effect
  • No refunds for price differences

9. Service Termination

If we terminate your account for Terms of Service violations:

  • No refund will be provided
  • You forfeit access to remaining subscription time
  • You may not create a new account

If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide prorated refunds for remaining subscription time.
